Reflections

“How shall freedom be defended? By arms when it is attacked by arms, by truth when it is attacked by lies, by faith when it is attacked by authoritarian dogma. Always, in the final act, by determination and faith.”

The EQualizer Post Predictions for The Philippines for 2016 (Caution: You may not like some of them)

Philippine presidential election years bring out the Nostradamus in all of us. The Presidentiables 2016 horse race will be bring plenty of big changes in our country.
WARNING!
EQ Prediction 1: There is a very strong possibility that the next Pinoy president will be "the Filipino "Hugo Chavez". And the Filipino people will pay a huge price in terms of the loss of basic freedoms.
If he becomes president, Duterte can become the Filipino "Hugo Chavez". JoMa Sison, Communist Party of the Philippines founder
“He has the character of Hugo Chavez,” said Sison, noting how the late Venezuelan leftist leader who galvanized the development of his country since coming to power in 1999."
Hugo Chavez: The controversial leader of Venezuela
with Cuba's Communist Dictator Fidel Castro
From The Daily Beast:
Hugo Ch├ívez Frias was not a dictator, a semantic point to which his supporters devoted much argument, but he was most assuredly not a democrat. Having burst onto the Venezuelan political scene in 1992 as the leader of a failed military coup, he would later reposition himself as a champion of the ballot box, though one without much concern for the niceties of democracy.
In the early days of Chavismo, despite his golpista background, Chavez commanded support from beyond the barrios, but his popularity waned significantly as he consolidated power by shuttering opposition media, rewriting the constitution, and expanding the supreme court.
As his rule become more arbitrary and power centralized, thousands fled into exile. He won elections in conditions that, had they taken place in this country, would likely provoke revolution (and, in 2002, actually did in Venezuela). Chavez took his semi-democratic mandate as license to rule undemocratically and rebuild state institutions, now staffed with loyal supporters.
All of this could have been predicted, and wasn’t particularly surprising from a president who believed that one must take the side of any enemy of the “empire.” That Zimbabwe’s dictator Robert Mugabe was a “freedom fighter,” or that Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko presided over “a model of a social state.” Saddam Hussein was a “brother,” Bashar al-Assad had the “same political vision” as the Bolivarian revolutionaries in Venezuela.
EQ Prediction 2: The reign of terror in Malacanang will be similar to the Marcos Martial Law days!
Davao City – “Kung ilalagay ako ng Diyos na maging president, ang unang magdudusa ay ang Diyos” (If God places me in the presidency, the first one to suffer will be God Himself).”
Mayor Duterte
From Durian Post Online
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte scared off those clamoring for him to run for president in 2016, with a warning he will do a Ferdinand Marcos if he is in Malacanang.
The late dictator Marcos ruled the country for more than two decades half of it under martial law, until People Power forced him to flee the country in 1986.
I will declare martial law and shut down the Senate and Congress, he said in his television program Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa on ABS/CBN Davao.
"You will regret it", he said in a message to those pushing him to run for the presidency.
EQ Prediction 3: The reign of terror of the Filipino "Hugo Chavez" will not last long!
The Filipino people will bring him down from power as soon as  they realize the kind of man he really is!
We brought down the Dictator in 1986. We will do it again in the near future!
I don't have any formula for ousting a dictator or building democracy. All I can suggest is to forget about yourself and just think of your people. It's always the people who make things happen.
Corazon Aquino
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear. 2 Chronicles 7:14
EQ Prediction 4: If we pray as one people, God will help the Philippines.

Have  mercy on the Philippines and the whole humanity.
Protect us from natural and man-made calamities.
Protect us at home from external and internal threats.
Help us repair the Church
Protect Pope Francis from all threats to his life.

Please protect us from natural and man-made calamities.
We worry again about the frightening circumstances of 1986.
There are many, many things we do not understand.
But we won't get tired of saying, 'Why? like children.
We will not be ashamed to plead for tenderness from the Heavens.

Please protect us at home from external and internal threats.
We are no match versus foreign invaders threatening our shores.
But we know that prayers are our most powerful defences.
We again have corrupt politicians knocking at the Palace's doors.
But we fervently plead to You to send us honest ones again.
Dear Lord,
We are imploring your help in the very critical 2016 National Elections in the Philippine.
In Chronicles 2 7-14, You said, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Help us to choose wisely our leaders.
Help us to discern the candidates and their platforms.
Lord God, awaken our candidates to a commitment of genuine public service.
Awaken the Filipino people to use their conscience when they enter the polling booths and cast their ballots.
Lord God, please awaken our voters to realize the importance of their votes.
Let them realize that their votes should be used to elect real leaders  who will truly serve them.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord
Amen.
EQ Prediction No. 5: Pope Francis will pray for our beloved country just like he did in the Yolanda disaster.
