The most prominent anti-corruption measures, not surprisingly, have been the current administration’s efforts to expose what it alleges to be the highly corrupt behaviour of the former administration.
It started with the May resignation of the Arroyo-appointed ombudsman, widely viewed as a major obstacle to bringing Arroyo administration figures to account.
This was followed by the arrest of former president Gloria Arroyo for alleged electoral fraud,the impeachment of Chief Justice Corona for alleged graft and corruption, culpable violation of the Constitution, and betrayal of public trust and the arrest of former COMELEC chairman Benjamin S. Abalos, Sr. for charges of electoral sabotage.

The House of Representatives approved the impeachment of Chief Justice Renato Corona for alleged graft and corruption, culpable violation of the Constitution, and betrayal of public trust. Corona is the first Supreme Court Justice to be impeached in the Philippines.

The government has put up a P500,000 reward for any information that will lead to the capture of fugitive retired Army general Jovito Palparan.
Palparan remains in hiding after a Bulacan court ordered his arrest for the abduction and disappearance of two student activists in 2006. He has also been linked to alleged killings and forced disappearances of activists while he was still in the military. From GMA News
