The chief justice of the Philippine Supreme Court accused President Benigno Aquino of plotting a “dictatorship”, and vowed to fight for his job after parliament impeached him. Renato Corona rejected accusations against him of unlawfully protecting ex-president Gloria Arroyo, and appealed for popular support to resist what what he said was an assault on the judiciary’s independence.

Elena Bautista-Horn, a spokesperson for Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, revealed a possible threat on the life of the former President.
According to Horn, a source from a certain government agency talked to them a few days ago and told them about a so-called operation "Put the Little Girl to Sleep," being cooked allegedly by the Aquino administration.
